The President of the Republic of Senegal receives the African Union of Broadcasting (AUB) Delegation
Thursday 24th February 2017, the President of the Republic of Senegal, Mr. Macky SALL received the AUB delegation at State House in Dakar. The African Union of Broadcasting delegation was headed by the President of the Union, Dr. Kwame AKUFFO assited by AUB's CEO, Mr Gregoire NDJAKA.
During this meeting, the delegation highlighted the activities that marked AUBs 10thanniversary, held from 21st to 24th February 2017 at Hotel des Almadies in Senegal and as such drew up to forty Managing Directors of Radio and Television of the member countries of the Union. During this meeting, the African Union of Broadcasting ceased the opportunity to thank President Macky SALL for his personal involvement in Advocating for lower tariffs of broadcasting rights of sporting events, particularly the Africa Cup of Nations (AFCON). The Senegalese Head of State appreciated the progress so far attained and encouraged AUB to continue discussions with CAF. His Excellency recalled the 17th May 2016 strategic meeting organized by AUB at Hotel Terrou-Bi, with its member organizations purposely to reflect on the rebroadcast rights of sporting events that were deemed exorbitant by many consumers. The negotiations undertaken by AUB under the leadership of the CEO, Mr Grégoire NDJAKA, realized the review of the broadcast rights fees owned by the French Group Lagardère.
